Siamese kitten and Ragdoll kitten-- compare and contrast

In an earlier post, I featured a charming chicken-stealing kitty: Little tiny Brazilian cat steals chicken I said in the comments that I thought it was a Siamese kitten. Nope. If a purebred, most likely a Ragdoll kitten, as Michael pointed out in added comments. So, I did some research on YouTube. This is a Siamese kitten, tho I can't refine the call to say whether it is of "traditional" or "modern" type. And this is a Ragdoll kitten. Direct link is here

Little tiny Brazilian cat steals chicken

Little tiny Brazilian cat steals chicken. This kitty had a plan. First try, no. Steps back to reconsider. Second try, 5.7 of 6 for technical merit, 5.0 of 6 for artistic impression in the Cat Olympics. Pretty darn good. But not up to the Torvill and Dean standard. But, that was ice dancing, not chicken stealing. Hard for a tiny kitty to dance with a dead chicken. Comment from Michael: I love this cat (and chicken). But is this a purebred cat? Not sure, but it is clearly a pointed cat with fur that is not Siamese fur. The pointing is blue ( grey ) and solid (not tabby pointing). As the fur is longer than for a Siamese , if this is a purebred this little gutsy charmer could be a Ragdoll or Ragdoll mix. Or a plain old but gorgeous, moggie. Have I mentioned that the week-long 2009 World Figure Skating Championships...

Ragdoll kitteh intent on watching tree frogs on TV

So, it is now confirmed via my research that kittehs love to watch nature programs on TV. Watch until the end of this- kitteh #2 is obviously very upset that she doesn't have the prime viewing seat! Direct link is here (2:30) p.s. Michael of Pictures of Cats has a great informational video about ragdoll cats here , and more details are here as to how this relatively recent cat breed came about.

Different kitteh, same generic mirror- Ka-thunk!

In response to an earlier post Cats Do Not Understand Mirrors Ka-thunk!" , Phoenician in a Time of Romans said "I'm pretty sure the kitteh is trying to figure out which one of them is dominant - not particularly easy when dealing with a mirror...". That comment got me to go look for more kitteh YTs with mirrors. Amazingly, I found one that shows a different kitteh, Ragdoll not Bengal, and in a different household, but same behavior, in front of the same type of full wall mirror. Behavior- kitteh fluffing up and arching his back to look bigger. And, another "ka-thunk"! And, growling. Direct link is here (0:51) Human says: Here's our American Ragdoll kitten, Mr. Bigglesworth, wigging out on his own reflection in the mirror. He's about 6 weeks old in this video. Mr. B only did this crazy thing with the mirror for about two weeks after we got him. After that, I guessed he learned the reflection was not a threat (LOL). He was kinda 'psycho' ...
