Frozen solid kitten (apparently dead) revived

Image
This is an astonishing and slightly disturbing video to watch at the beginning. I was unsure that I'd watch it, but I was interested in seeing what happened. I haven't watched the whole video, but it starts horrendously and finishes delightfully. It is actually not that bad and quite watchable. I don't know how this kitten survived and was brought back to life from a solid block apparently dead. The kitten was clearly solid and devoid of movement and apparently life. But heart massage was administered, and warmth gently applied together with fluids and bingo he/she came back.  I've never seen an example of near-death revival like this before. Here is the TikTok video. It may disappear and if so, I apologise. @luckycat2333 Kitty rescue story #cat #catlover #specialneedscat #helpcats #rescuecat #homelesscat #kitty #fyp #foryou ♬ You Are The Reason - Alex Porat

When a feline DNA test isn't needed

Image
The image is self-explanatory. The saying 'like father like son' comes to mind. RELATED:  Is DNA testing of your cat for lineage and health issues worth it ? Not that you ever need to check on the paternity of a cat or rarely. This is only likely when a father is denying that he is the father of a child to avoid paying maintenance! If only the likeness was always this accurate in matrimonial disputes there'd be no need for DNA testing.  One commenter said that it is an example of copy and paste. Or Harpo Marx has been reborn.  RELATED:  The choice between adopting a cat or dog is in your DNA as much as it is influenced by experience .

Why do some adult cats suckle like kittens?

Image
A picture of a grown kitten suckling milk from a bottle in his "arms" brings to mind quite a commonplace question about adult cats which is that sometimes they suckle on objects which are not their mother's breast. It's a form of compulsive suckling as if they are kittens i.e. permanent kittens. And this is for me, a part of the answer. I see this "problem" being to do with two issues, one of which is an overarching issue and the other is a more specific issue. Adult siblings suckling each other. Screenshot. See base of page for explanation. RELATED: Sibling suckling . Overarching issue I call this an overarching issue because it seems to me that cat owners a.k.a. cat caregivers (which is a better description), through their actions and their relationship between themselves and their domestic cat companion, keep their cats in a permanent state of kittenhood.  Because they constantly provide food, security and warmth to their cat companions, the cat's nor...

Near-adult domestic cat likes to suckle from a bottle

Image
It's a cute little Twitter video but is it a good idea to allow a near-adult domestic cat companion suckle from a bottle like this? I mean it looks nice in many ways; it looks like this cat is a human baby with the presence of mind to hang onto a bottle of milk and drink from it as if they are suckling at their mother's breast.  But does it not perpetuate the thought in the mind of this cat that they are a kitten and might it not be a good idea to allow the cat to grow up and become more independent?  The truth is, as stated by Dr Desmond Morris, that human cat caregivers keep their companions in a near permanent state of kittenhood due to the relationship. It is an automatic byproduct of cat domestication. Near-adult cat likes to suckle from a 'hand-held' bottle. Screenshot. The person who has tweeted the video is a colleague of mine who is on a mission to try and stop cat declawing in the USA. I have tried myself through hundreds of posts. I won't go on but declaw...

Who came out? A cute tabby kitten that's who.

Just a bit of lighthearted fun. This is a nice little video. It is a strange sort of den but no doubt very effective. It has a tiny entrance. I have not seen one like this before. These dens are very important to many cats. They are very suited to timid cats. They need a place to hide but all cats need a quiet retreat where they can distance themselves from the real world 😉. Does that sound like humans? I think so. I know my cat likes to come under the duvet with me. He doesn't mind if it gives him little air. He'll stay there for 20 minutes. Dark, warm and smelly is the way he likes it.
