Couple of Bengal cats at Yorkshire rescue need adopting 17/03/2023

Image
As Yorkshire Cat Rescue state it is rare for a rescue center to have a couple of purebred cats up for adoption and in this instance, it is a couple of Bengals. One of them has a damaged right ear flap which does not enhance their appearance. They don't say how he damaged his ear. No big deal. They've put up their adoption fee to £400 for each. That's about one third of the purchase price for this cat so not bad.  Floki. Adoption fee £400 at Yorkshire Cat Rescue at 17/02/2023 Floki. Adoption fee £400 at Yorkshire Cat Rescue at 17/02/2023 If you fancy adopting a Bengal cat on the cheap this is an opportunity. But of course, the adoption fee is a fraction of the overall cost in terms of maintenance over the remainder of the life of a cat. The rescue have said they need to be in a home where there are no other cats or dogs and that they should be confined to the home including the use of an enclosed backyard if available (rare). These guys don't get on with other pets. That...

Bengal cat dives into corner pocket of billiards table

Image
Domestic cats can be like squidgy tubes of toothpaste the way they wriggle into small spaces. Bengal cat dives into corner pocket of billiards table. Screenshot. This is strange to say the least but it is all in play. That said I am astonished how easily this glamorous Bengal cat dives into the corner pocket of a billiards table with complete ease and nonchalance and disappears. Following in his footsteps is his kid who pokes and prods him as he has turned around inside the pocket. I think he makes a habit of it. Cats have an extraordinary ability to get into small spaces because of their flexibility. They are like a tube of toothpaste sometimes. If that has happened, I apologise but I have no control over it.

Bengal cat mom and kittens on the treadmill

Image
This is a cute mini-video of a Bengal cat mom and her two kittens doing a daily workout on a feline treadmill. It is good to see. I love to see cats exercising. Treadmills are still fairly rare in homes perhaps because cat owners are unsure if their cat will use it.  How many cat products bought with great passion and love are discarded because the cat can see no use in it? A lot I suspect. But one of the great problems in the way of life of indoor domestic cats is getting enough to do. There aren't enough challenges. Cats are fed and pampered. There is no need for them to exercise their hunting skills and their brains.  Result? Boredom and sometimes obesity to the detriment of their overall health and welfare. Cats need to challenged just like humans. Note: this video is likely to stop working at some time in the future as it appears to be in possible breach of copyright. If it does fail I am sorry but I have no control over it. A car (not a typo!) needs to be used to keep ...

Cat comes home after 2 years, thanks to microchip

Image
Ozzie the bengal cat was reunited with his family, after 2 years, thanks to a cat microchip. I read this story earlier this year, and thought of it again after reading about cat microchips over at Michael's place. Selected quotes below are from this newpaper story Cat Ozzie's back from Millport after two years "A MISSING moggie has been reunited with its Bearsden owners — after turning up in Millport TWO YEARS after it vanished. Karen Ratcliffe was stunned when she was told her beloved pet had been found safe and well, 38 miles away in the seaside town last week." Here's the map of the 38 miles- A is Bearsden, B is Millport: "She has no idea how the Bengal tabby managed to cross the waves to the Isle of Cumbrae — but she and her family are delighted to welcome him home. Ozzie was handed into North Ayrshire Cats Protection by a woman who had noticed that he was a stray and they found that he had a microchip which enabled them to trace his original owner. ...

More cat tricks! Bengal cat invents a great trick

This bengal cat loves sleeping in drawers. I confess I had to watch this a second time before I "got it" as to the trick, but then I was really laughing! Souter has such an innocent look about him... Direct link is here Human says: "My cat Souter (4 m/o bengal kitten) loves sleeping in drawers, especially ones that are closed. I thought that my girlfriend kept leaving her drawers open, and was going to yell at her for doing so, until I saw him doing this. Forgive the sound track, I rushed to get out my camera when I caught him in the act and didn't have time to turn down the stereo." Michael at Pictures of Cats has a great page about Bengal cats. I find these cats fascinating, even tho I don't want to be owned by one. PoC page is here

20 Bengal Cat Games

Human says: "Every Bengal cat owner knows they need constant activity and enrichment. And that a Bengals's favorite activity is anything new to solve. Here is a few of the things we came up with." Direct link is here This is an all round great video. Watch till the end... ;) Purrrrr.... A page over at PoC (link) has a wealth of information about Bengal cats. The title at the top is "Bengal cats for sale", but that's a bit misleading. Michael can correct me if I am wrong, but my guess is that page started out focusing on the price of Bengal cats (and the cat being stolen from owners) and then just grew and and grew. If you click on the label "Bengal cats" below you'll find more great YouTubes of Bengals on this blog.

Bengal cat- Khan the bra stalker

Direct link is here (1:52) Human says: Khan, 7 month old snow mink Bengal fascinated by bras soaking in the sink. I am unsure what he was more interested in the bras, or the bubbles p.s. "In the Hall of the Mountain King" is one of my favorite posts about what Bengals get up to, here. --YouTube reprise- Direct link is here (1:21) Human says: Maximus opening a drawer to get his toys and whatever else he finds entertaining.

Cats in High Places- Kitteh Nonpariel

I previously did a series of posts about "cats in high places" wherein I chose Bronze, Silver and Gold medals for kittehs in high places (kittehs on doors). Kittehs were judged by Attitude and Aptitude. But, in my research, I somehow missed this cat athlete nonpariel. Doors? Nah. This Bengal kitteh shoots for the stars/ rafters. Direct link is here (2:21)

Contrary to popular opinion, some kittehs lurve water

Direct link is here (1:45) This is the first installment of an occasional series. Oh, my, I have been researching this topic, like, forever. But this particular Bengal cat in the bathtub captured my attention! No doubt at all about the water thing. The tap is running. Watch teh kittehs legs carefully to see the water level get higher and higher!

In the Hall of the Mountain King

I love kitteh YouTubes with purrfect music. The original YT didn't have music, but I just HAD to add some, to set the mood. Direct link is here (1:21) As the Human says in the original , "Maximus opening a drawer to get his toys and whatever else he finds entertaining".

Cats Do Not Understand Mirrors Ka-thunk!

Further evidence that cats Do Not Understand Mirrors. Ka-thunk! Part of an occasional, continuing series. Part 1 is here . Direct link is here (0:50)

Epic Fail- kitteh tries to get ice cube

Epic Fail. The best part of this YT is the first 46 secs, which includes a slo-mo replay of the key event, featuring Zico the Bengal kitteh. Direct link is here (2:30) I won't repeat what the Human says in comments, because that would give it away! If you watch til the end, you will see that Bengal kitteh has a certain look. Kinda a glare. ;) imho, woulda been much better if the Human had yelled "It's a wrap" at 0:46. But, them kitteh owners luvs them kittehs! p.s. One commenter at YT very astutely notes "Zico even did the "I don't care" casual scratch after ....." Hehe! Keen eye for kitteh behavior, that commenter! p.p.s. Marion in Savannah, another astute observer of kitteh behavior, notes in the comments "My kittehs don't usually do the "I don't care" scratch. They're much more prone to do the "I did that on purpose to amuse you" shoulder wash." LOL! True, that. I see another YouTube rese...

Bengal kittehs fight paper bag

Part of an occasional series on "inexpensive cat toys". *g* Bengal cats fight (uh... destroy) paper bag. (0:59) p.s. wow, what gorgeous kittehs! p.p.s. The direct link is here . I always include the direct link, in case anyone who has a YT account wants to go give some love to the humans who post these great YouTubes. Update: thought it was worth bringing this comment from Marion in Savannah to the front page- very good advice. "As a precaution if I'm going to let kittehs play with shopping bags I clip or remove the handles. You haven't lived until you've had to chase down a freaked out kitteh with her head through the handle tearing around the house with the bag flapping behind her... "

Cantaloupe- Yummy!

Another installment in the occasional series "What do kittehs eat?" This one's for Marion in Savannah, who has been a faithful presence in the comments sections, and who also has MUCH kitteh experience. She mentioned that one of her cats had loved cantaloupe, to the extent of dragging the rinds out of the trash. Now that was one focused kitteh! None of my cats were into cantaloupe, but research on YouTube reveals that a lot of cats really really like cantaloupe. This is mr. kitty in a cantaloupe-dedicated mood (100% attention): And, this YT is fun (slice of life style) because it documents that of 2 kitteh Bengal siblings, Moe really likes cantaloupe, like yeowling for it, and Joe is totally NOT interested in cantaloupe: Direct links to YTs: here and here.

Bronze medal- Cats on Doors

I've been spending a lot time checking out YouTubes of "Cats on Doors"- another YouTube subculture of merit. I've made my choices as to my favorites, and decided to award Gold, Silver and Bronze medals to the top three. If there were a Cat Olympics, this should definitely be one of the top events. And, the Bronze medal goes to Bella, the Bengal cat- Bengal Cat Agility .
