A brilliant story. The dedication is impressive. And the ending is just how it should be: his cat happy and playing in a safe home where he is loved. His is Alex and his rescue cat is Pisa according to the video. Pisa sat on his lap on the flight from Turkey to America! No way that he was going to stay in the cat carrier under the seat. And Alex managed to arrange to flight out of Turkey in double quick time and just before CDC in the United States banned the importation of cats from Turkey.  This was impressive work by Alex and PETA who funded this and other rescue work in Turkey as I understand it. The Cat Man of Aleppo, also known as Mohammad Alaa Aljaleel, has been working tirelessly to help cats and other animals affected by the earthquakes in Syria. After the earthquakes, he immediately began rescuing injured and trapped cats from the rubble and providing them with food, water, and medical care. Alaa has set up a sanctuary for the rescued cats, called Il Gattaro d'Aleppo (The Cat Man of Aleppo Sanctuary). The sanctuary provides a safe space for cats to recover and receive ongoing care, including veterinary treatment and food. It is always great to see real a commitment to rescuing cats after a disaster and then reuniting them with their owners which is always a highly charged an emotional moment. The cats in this video seem incredibly calm. I am impressed both with the cats and with the rescuers. Update : the video below can only be seen on YouTube sadly but I have added one from Twitter above. At the point of reunion, of course the owners want to take their cats out of the cat carrier and hug them. Entirely understandable. But when I see this, I am concerned about the cats running off.  They are, after all, in a strange environment. They have just been through a terrifying experience. There are strangers everywhere. There is noise and commotion. Isn't there a good chance that these cats would run off and never be seen again? I think if I was the cat owner, I would take the carrier with their cat inside to their home or to a secure place if there is one and open the carrier there. Or perhaps I am being ...
